TEMPORARY POSITION: DRIVER I MECHANIC

The Driver Cum Mechanic will provide driving and logistical support to all Pre-Service Training (PST) activities in Muheza, Korogwe, Dodoma and Morogoro during PST Implementation for specific period. S/he will be responsible for basic Peace Corps vehicle maintenance; Drive Staff, Volunteers, Trainees and other Peace Corps guests. S/he will frequently be called upon to assist with logistics and support of trainees, as well as other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities Include:

Safely drive staff, volunteers and guests in official Peace Corps Tanzania vehicles; obey all traffic laws; only drive vehicles which have been checked and cleared as road worthy; and accurately log all vehicle trips in Vehicle Log Books.
Ensure adequate fuel, supplies and resources for all trips.
Ensure the security of Peace Corps vehicles by locking vehicles and parking vehicles in secure areas. r.
Perform daily/weekly mechanic checks as per checklist for all assigned vehicles.
Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs and troubleshooting.
Other tasks as assigned by the Training Manager and/or his/her appointee.
Minimum Qualifications

Form Four Certificate with class C driving license; Mechanics Certificate from a recognized institution – Trade Test I or II and above; relevant driving experience of at least 4 years with a clean record are required. Proven knowledge of roads and towns throughout Tanzania; good spoken English; ability to work with minimal supervision; Training in motor vehicle mechanics; ability to work well within a team; prior experience working with NGOs is desirable; at least 2 years’ experience working with an International Organization preferable.
